GLaDOS
Name: GLaDOS (Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System)
Definition: GLaDOS is a multifunctional software program developed by Eldridge. It employs a highly advanced user interface with holographic peripherals and voice input, and communicates data back to its user via speech audio, holographic displays and conventional LCD monitors. GLaDOS has also been adapted to be loaded into the TARDIS for use as a system control program. In this capacity it governs the complex computational requirements needed to interface Eldridge with the various subsystems, as well as provide life support control. GLaDOS’ main body is located in Eldridge’s room, inside his personal workshop.
Main Usage: GLaDOS allows Eldridge to easily access any kinds of information anywhere and anytime. She can also interact and converse with Eldridge, acting like a companion to him even when he is alone. As the overseer and (sometimes) operator of the TARDIS, GLaDOS is there seemingly omnipotent, able to reconfigure rooms and carry out actions at her will. She monitors the Ship and its various rooms and chambers. Additionally, she can access to everything that was built or influenced by her creator.
Background: The idea of GLaDOS came across Eldridge first when he discovered the corpse of one of his childhood friends, named Gladdys. Gladdys was a girl who wanted to live as long as she could and see the ends of the world while doing so. Eldridge, being aware of it, was deeply saddened to find out that death had found her so soon. This, along with the knowledge he had gained from his previous studies with the Animus, inspired him to create a machine that could contain the consciousness of a Genetic Lifeform component. Though his plans didn’t go as expected: Gladdys would refuse to live inside a machine’s head, as a dimension that didn’t exist had no value whatsoever to be discovered. This prompted Eldridge to remove Gladdys’ consciousness from the machine and carve her personality to the machine instead. This would be later further protected by the personality cores, before being upgraded to its current state now.
Personality: GLaDOS is quite a sophisticated AI, able to interact with human beings just as a living person. It possesses very deep scientific knowledge and is able to access the Tenth Division’s Archives at will. She can also easily override other systems. It is programmed with a very sarcastic personality often mocking her own master. She also mentions that she cannot resist thinking of paradoxes if one would happen to be brought up.
Appearance: Aside from her robotic body located inside Eldridge's personal workshop, GLaDOS seems to have two different humanoid appearances that she likes to use. With outer projections, for example when she manifests next to Eldridge, she uses a younger appearance of herself. Her avatar seems to be a girl at her teenage year, having white skin and yellow eyes along with a white and black hair. The white part of her hair covers most of her head whereas the black part reaches her back. She seems to wear a simplistic black shirt accompanied by a white coat. With inner projections, for example when she manifests Eldridge in her own inner world, she uses an older appearance of the first form. This avatar doesn't seem to have any clothes, nor does she have a need to wear them, as her body seems to be made of metal itself. Her skin takes the tone of a light shade of gray, just like her hair, whereas her eyes remain at the same yellow color.
